Office Weight Loss Challenge
| March 18, 2012 | Posted by admin under Weight Loss |
This week, the ladies at my office decided to create an office weight loss challenge – kind of like The Biggest Loser. We got together and decided on the rules and such and it starts this Monday! I’m really excited about this because eating out at work is where I get most of my calories. At least now there will be a little positive peer pressure to eat well.
There are 10 of us completing the challenge and each of us are going to place $5 per week into the pool. The person each week who has met the most percentage of their weight loss goal will win for the week and will not have to pay $5 the following week. The challenge will last 12 weeks. At the end of the 12 weeks, the winner will get the entire pot! (almost $500!)
Supplements – Take Them or Leave Them?

Supplements are not “magic pills”. They are no substitute for having a healthy diet, getting regular exercise of moderate intensity and refraining from smoking. Nevertheless, some of them are highly beneficial to your health. Unfortunately, others are pretty much useless. Here are some of the best supplements that you should seriously consider taking every day if you want to help ensure good health and longevity.
Fish Oil Capsules
Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids which cannot be synthesised by the human body. Most people do not get enough of it in their diet as you really have to eat oily fish at least twice per week to get enough. It is widely accepted that supplementing with omega-3 can bestow many health benefits.
Can Dieting be Easy?

Dieting to lose weight has never been easy. But it can be made easier if you follow a few simple rules and take my advice.
Develop An Ability To Gauge Calorific Content
Most people who calorie-count do it religiously. They will add up everything they eat to the nearest calorie but I think that they really miss the point. It is better to develop a skill of looking at some food and understanding it and knowing intrinsically how many calories it contains i.e. how much energy it is going to give you and how long it will last. When you can do this, you will gain a greater appreciation for food and it will help you to stop over-eating beyond what your body needs. It will also help you to maintain that calorific deficit that is necessary for consistent weight loss.

The Quickest Way to Burn Fat
| March 6, 2012 | Posted by admin under Fitness Tips |
What is the single, quickest way to burn fat? The answer is HIIT (high intensity interval training).
Why HIIT Works
The “interval” aspect of HIIT refers to the fact that your intensity levels change. We will get to the specifics later but the important concept to highlight is the change in intensity during the workout.
Your body is a bit like a car. When you drive at a constant speed in your car, especially if you can do so at low revs, then your fuel will be economised and you can get good mileage. When you are driving through a jammed city centre, often stopping and starting, then you will burn up fuel like there is no tomorrow.
